Ben is the chair of the SCPS Meetings and Seminar committee. He has been the Head of Clinical Perfusion Science at the Essex CTC, Basildon Hospital (MSE NHS Trust) for the last ten years. He trained as a perfusionist at Barts and the London Chest Hospital. He is first author of the book “Physics in Anaesthesia” which is now in its second edition.

Lorna is a member of the SCPS Meetings and Seminar committee.

Jacqueline Simmons is chair of the SCPS. She is a Clinical Perfusion Scientist with extensive experience in the profession. Holding both a BSc and a BSC hons degrees, as well as an MA in Health Care Leadership and Management. She Combines clinical expertise with a strong focus on patient safety after completing her thesis on Perfusion Error and application of simulation.

Mike and colleagues co-developed the PEERS [Post Event Reflection and Support] approach to debriefing and has developed a developed a diverse debriefing faculty of over 20 volunteer PEERS facilitators who to date have debriefed over 2000 colleagues.

Laura is the SCPS Registrar. She qualified as a perfusionist in 2017 at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Laura works as a clinical perfusionist at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. When not working, Laura enjoys crocheting and learning languages!

Rebecca is a member of the SCPS Executive committee. Senior Clinical Perfusionist at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. She previously studied for a MPhil in the department of Oncology at the University of Sheffield Medical School, before joining St Bartholomew’s Hospital as a Trainee Perfusionist. Since her move to Sheffield, Rebecca has found a keen interest in complex aortic work.

An aviation professional of over 35 years, he trained as an officer and pilot in the Royal Air Force and has since operated commercially as a commander of helicopters in various roles. Throughout, he has experienced the change in emphasis from training and development in the aircraft to the widespread use of simulation.

Professor Dr. Searles is a Professor at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University serving as the Executive Assistant Dean for the College of Health Professions, Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion and Program Director for the graduate degree in Clinical Perfusion. He is also a certified and licensed Perfusionist and ECMO consultant and Education Coordinator for two local hospitals in central NY.

Jo has over 20 years’ experience. Her clin neg work includes medico-legal advice, pre-litigation, early commercial resolution, and representation in trials, for a wide range of clinicians. Her experience includes defence work on a high value claim involving an error by a clinical perfusion scientist. Jo is a medical indemnity expert.

Tracy has defended medical professionals throughout her long career. She works inlegally and clinically complex matters:claims, regulatory (all the healthcare regulators), disciplinary, criminal and inquests. She has particular expertise in representing those who face multiple proceedings, arising from the same incident.
