Alan Rayner

Role

Alan currently manages the Perfusion services at London Bridge Hospital, Harley Street Clinic, Wellington Hospital and the Portland Hospital in London. 

Clinical Interests

Alan is an experienced perfusionist with a wide range of clinical interests, in particular haemostasis and haematology and point of care testing methods for individualised treatment. Alan completed an MSc (Haematology) from Kingston University in 2012 and was subsequently awarded with the College Fellowship. 

Professional Profile

Alan completed his training as an adult and paediatric perfusionist in Durban, South Africa in 1991. He established the first homograft centre in the region during his training. He joined the Royal Brompton Hospital in 1995 and had a leading role in the VAD program. In 2001 Alan was appointed Chief Perfusionist at the London Bridge Hospital (Part of HCA Healthcare UK hospital group). This role has been extended to cover perfusion services across all the London based hospitals and in 2023 this will widen to a new facility at the QE Birmingham, The Harborne Hospital.
