In 2019 Sarah was elected to the Executive Committee of the Society ofClinical Perfusion Scientists and appointed as Education and Training Committee Chair.

Clinical Interests

Sarah is experienced in all aspects of adult perfusion but has a particular interest in perfusion practices for complex aortic procedures. She is interested in training and education which has led her becoming an accredited SCPS examiner in addition to regularly delivering training sessions to trainee perfusionists and wider cardiothoracic multidisciplinary team at LHCH.

Professional Profile

Sarah graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2001 with a degree in Applied Zoology and after working as a Medical Sales Representative secured a Perfusion Trainee post in 2002.  Since accrediting in 2004 Sarah has worked at LHCH and has gained experience in a range of adult perfusion practices including management of adult congenital heart disease patients, minimally invasive procedures and aortic surgery.  In 2017 Sarah began the MSc in Translational Cardiovascular Medicine at Bristol University and while completing this course developed an interest in research.  She has joined the Liverpool Biomechanics and Biochemistry (LABB) multidisciplinary research group at Liverpool University and hopes to continue to develop her research interests in the future.
